Is it possible to have wine shipped to me from someone in Canada?

July 2nd, 2008

I saw some Iced Wine on the internet and would like to try it. Would my friend from Canada be able to ship that to me? I'm not sure if alcoholic beverages can be shipped.

Yes, the only difference is that is will have to pass through customs.

It can be but there are major customs forms to be filled out. They can't just mail it and expect it to get through customs. All "Food" items need what they call a "Prior Notice" form now.

    Here is the website

    http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~pn/pnoview.html

If this isn't filled out, they will confiscate the wine at the border.

I've done it many times in the last couple months for food/beverage products and it is a cumbersome process to begin with. The first time took me over an hour. You'll have to have a good friend in order for them to want to do it for you.
